- Friday 29th August 8.30 – 9.30 pm Mechanics’ Institute – Minerva Space. In Concert with the Ballarat Symphony in Adam Simmon’s “Travelling Tales” – a suite composed and performed for the Pireus Festival in Athens, Greece. Andrea will be leading members of the Ballarat Symphony along side Melbourne musicians Sarah Curro, Phoebe Green, Imogen Manins and Nick Tsiavos.

These workshops use classical and contemporary music and visual art to engage young people as well as adults in the arts, inviting them to respond to live by the Ad Hoc Music Collective music using crayons and paint. Erica Rasmussen help capture what they hear on paper exploring lines and shape and elements in music such as volume, pitch, mood and texture.

Andrea Keeble and the Ad Hoc Music Collective (for this concert, as a string quartet) present a concert of original compositions from Andrea’s CD “TEETER” and by other members of the quartet. Joining her will be Sue Simpson (violin), Jason Bunn (Viola) and Helen Mountfort (‘cello). As versatile instrumentalists & improvisers, Ad Hoc’s repertoire for the evening will be for solo violin, loop pedal, duets, and quartets that are influenced by a myriad of genres, from minimalism to folk, jazz to avant garde, classical and hints of pop.

AD HOC MUSIC COLLECTIVE is involved in a new workshop project this year. It’s called “Paint What You Hear” and it’s on at ArtPlay, Birrarung Marr over three dates in the school holidays in 2012 – 4 April, 4 July & 3 October.
All workshops pitched at 5-8 year olds are from 11am-1pm.
A special Concert featuring AD HOC MUSIC COLLECTIVE will be held on Saturday 6th October at 2 pm to showcase the amazing results of these workshops.

Read More »In Concert with Resonance String Orchestra
Andrea been working with the Resonance String Orchestra over the past couple of months in a series of workshops based on improvisation and string playing to collaborate in composing an original composition with the orchestra. This piece “Ominous Moon” will be featured at this concert as well as classical favourites and Piazzolla’s ‘Libertango’. Special guests include the Macedon Ranges Children’s Choir. Andrea will also be performing original solo works from her CD “TEETER”.
